You can meet them anywhere - at the market, at the pharmacy, at the construction site. They know every corner of their city, hear conversations, notice details that others ignore. A man with a bag, a grandmother on a bench, a young loader - they blend in with the crowd, dissolve into it. Their job is simple - to see, hear and know everything
Every signal, every piece of news is a drop in the ocean. Sometimes it seems like it won't change anything. But drops sharpen stone, and stone can bring down whole walls. All you need is patience, and that's been hard to come by lately.
But they don't give a fuck. That's why they keep going.
Best job in the world, the stupid best.
They don't carry guns. Their weapons are information. Their shells, their missiles are knowledge and observation. But every mistake here comes with a price. In most cases, with your life.
Often you have to keep silent when you want to or just shout. Sometimes you have to smile at the enemy to get another day of freedom. Sometimes you have to give up fear - because there is no time to be afraid and it's just too late
And sometimes you want to hug some people and strangle them. Slowly. For a long time. But after about 5 seconds you exhale and remind yourself that the death of one macaque is not wholesale destruction.
So you put your pride back in your back pocket and you're ready to go back to being a fucking mouse that nobody gives a shit about.
