Entente 2.0. Has it come to fruition?
Keir Starmer gathered Ukraine's allies for a virtual council on 15 March to gauge support for his and French President Emmanuel Macron's "coalition of the willing" (give the rf pussy) idea. Speaking at a press conference, the prime minister said the international military would meet on Thursday

Of the European Union countries not on the list of participants in Keir Starmer's "coalition of the willing" meeting, the following are absent:
Hungary - Viktor Orban is known for his pro-Russian views and probably declined to participate.
Slovakia - the pro-Kremlin stance of Prime Minister Robert Fico, who has actively promoted pro-Russian narratives and criticised support for Ukraine since coming to power in 2023.
Ireland - no representative, which may be related to its traditionally more neutral foreign policy.
Austria - also absent, consistent with its neutrality.
Malta - small country, often taking a cautious stance on sanctions and foreign policy.
Cyprus is absent, which may be related to its economic ties with Russia.
Serbia is not on the list of participants in Keir Starmer's "coalition of the willing" meeting. This is expected, as Belgrade traditionally remains neutral with regard to Western sanctions against Russia and maintains close relations with Moscow. It is also worth noting that the Serbian authorities, including President Aleksandar Vucic, try to balance between the eu and russia, but do not impose sanctions against moscow, and Serbia itself is rf's analogue in the Balkans. Plus Serbia is energy dependent on rf, so you shouldn't expect basically anything anti-russian from it - Belgrade constantly diodes on sticks on divyatamaya and denies the genocide in Srebrenica, Bucha's analogue
Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are also absent from Keir Starmer's "coalition of the willing" meeting.
Croatia is absent because of the political situation - Croatia's cotton-picking president Zoran Milanovic is known for his controversial statements on NATO and Ukraine and often takes positions criticising western sanctions against russia. But there is good news - the government of Andrej Plenkovic is taking a pro-Ukrainian stance.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is not on the wish list, but you can't understand it - the country is on the brink of war, which is about to start + Bosnia and Herzegovina consists of two parts: the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (more pro-European) and Republika Srpska, (where leader Milorad Dodik openly declares support for russia).
It is also worth noting that Turkey is on Starmer's list, although it is not a member of the EU, but its participation in such initiatives is always taken as a significant diplomatic signal.
Now for more details on those who do not want to quarrel with moscow
Hungary - Orban has chosen not just to "not show up", he has chosen to go into isolation. He is a pure vassal of rf, with all that entails. The question is that when Europe starts a real clean-up of the Kremlin's influence, he may find himself on the sidelines, because neither rf nor EU really need him.
Slovakia. Another rf vassal. Honestly, I don't know whether the Russian Federation has dirt on him as on Orban or not, but you can see for yourself. If in 2023 he was simply disliked in Brussels, in 2025 he will start to be really pushed away from decision making.
Serbia is trapped. By sheer will and stupidity. Belgrade cannot join the coalition because it is tied to moscow by energy, politics and internal pro-Russian lobby. Also Belgrade cannot turn its back on the EU because European money keeps the Serbian economy afloat. Vucic thought he would sit on two chairs forever, but this meeting is a reminder that the chairs will soon move apart. They are already moving, so don't tear a muscle somewhere.
Austria, Ireland, Cyprus, Malta are the banking shards of old Europe. Their refusal to participate is fear of losing business with Russia. They are playing "neutrality", but neutrality is no more - it ended in 2022. Their attempt to sit this one out will end with them being forced to make up their minds.
Although... from this list I would single out Austria - there are as many rf agents there as in Latvia-Lithuania-Estonia.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is actually Ukraine in 2014. Dodik and Republika Srpska work as vassals of the Kremlin and Belgrade at the same time. The question is how long this will last and when the order will be given to ignite a new war in the Balkans
Therefore, Bosnia may soon become the next battleground for influence - either the West will secure it in its sphere, or Dodik will achieve secession, and then the Balkans will erupt anew.
Turkey is the unexpected card in the game and Erdogan's presence is top tier from the Turks. Turkey is not a member of the EU but is in the coalition. Why? Because Erdogan feels that the West can start the game without him - and he wants to be at the centre of things.
Erdogan is ready to sell Moscow again in exchange for new bonuses from the West. In exchange, Turkey can press harder on Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Central Asia to squeeze Russian influence there. Official Ankara realises that when Ukraine wins, the Kremlin will be weakened = it is Turkey that can take its place in the Black Sea region.
Erdogan is not an ally of Ukraine. He is a player who plays only in his favour and for himself. But the very fact of his participation is a wake-up call for rf: Turkey is not going to sink with russia.
There is a great possibility that the coalition could become a prototype of a new "military Schengen zone", where weapons, military technology and assistance are transferred faster and without bureaucracy. I also think that new participants - Japan or South Korea, which are already increasing sanctions against Russia - will join the coalition. Of these two, I bet on Japan - South Korea is too dependent on the U.S., and Tokyo wants normal and clear security conditions, not what Trump fucked up there
Yes, there is every chance that NATO may officially stay away, but the coalition format will allow the transfer of the latest weapons without political brakes.
Moral. This is a bid to change the rules of war. As it seems to me, the West will no longer just help Ukraine - it is forming an alliance that can make the defeat of Russia inevitable. I don't give a fuck what's going on in Trump's head.

Of the European Union countries not on the list of participants in Keir Starmer's "coalition of the willing" meeting, the following are absent:
Hungary - Viktor Orban is known for his pro-Russian views and probably declined to participate.

Serbia is not on the list of participants in Keir Starmer's "coalition of the willing" meeting. This is expected, as Belgrade traditionally remains neutral with regard to Western sanctions against Russia and maintains close relations with Moscow. It is also worth noting that the Serbian authorities, including President Aleksandar Vucic, try to balance between the eu and russia, but do not impose sanctions against moscow, and Serbia itself is rf's analogue in the Balkans. Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are also absent from Keir Starmer's "coalition of the willing" meeting.
Croatia is absent because of the political situation - Croatia's cotton-picking president Zoran Milanovic is known for his controversial statements on NATO and Ukraine and often takes positions criticising western sanctions against russia. But there is good news - the government of Andrej Plenkovic is taking a pro-Ukrainian stance.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is not on the wish list, but you can't understand it - the country is on the brink of war, which is about to start + Bosnia and Herzegovina consists of two parts: the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (more pro-European) and Republika Srpska, (where leader Milorad Dodik openly declares support for russia).
It is also worth noting that Turkey is on Starmer's list, although it is not a member of the EU, but its participation in such initiatives is always taken as a significant diplomatic signal.
Now for more details on those who do not want to quarrel with moscow
Hungary - Orban has chosen not just to "not show up", he has chosen to go into isolation. He is a pure vassal of rf, with all that entails. The question is that when Europe starts a real clean-up of the Kremlin's influence, he may find himself on the sidelines, because neither rf nor EU really need him.
Slovakia. Another rf vassal. Honestly, I don't know whether the Russian Federation has dirt on him as on Orban or not, but you can see for yourself. If in 2023 he was simply disliked in Brussels, in 2025 he will start to be really pushed away from decision making.
Serbia is trapped. By sheer will and stupidity. Belgrade cannot join the coalition because it is tied to moscow by energy, politics and internal pro-Russian lobby. Also Belgrade cannot turn its back on the EU because European money keeps the Serbian economy afloat. Vucic thought he would sit on two chairs forever, but this meeting is a reminder that the chairs will soon move apart. They are already moving, so don't tear a muscle somewhere.
Austria, Ireland, Cyprus, Malta are the banking shards of old Europe. Their refusal to participate is fear of losing business with Russia. They are playing "neutrality", but neutrality is no more - it ended in 2022. Their attempt to sit this one out will end with them being forced to make up their minds.
Although... from this list I would single out Austria - there are as many rf agents there as in Latvia-Lithuania-Estonia.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is actually Ukraine in 2014. Dodik and Republika Srpska work as vassals of the Kremlin and Belgrade at the same time. The question is how long this will last and when the order will be given to ignite a new war in the Balkans
Therefore, Bosnia may soon become the next battleground for influence - either the West will secure it in its sphere, or Dodik will achieve secession, and then the Balkans will erupt anew.
Turkey is the unexpected card in the game and Erdogan's presence is top tier from the Turks. Turkey is not a member of the EU but is in the coalition. Why? Because Erdogan feels that the West can start the game without him - and he wants to be at the centre of things.
Erdogan is ready to sell Moscow again in exchange for new bonuses from the West. In exchange, Turkey can press harder on Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Central Asia to squeeze Russian influence there. Official Ankara realises that when Ukraine wins, the Kremlin will be weakened = it is Turkey that can take its place in the Black Sea region.
Erdogan is not an ally of Ukraine. He is a player who plays only in his favour and for himself. But the very fact of his participation is a wake-up call for rf: Turkey is not going to sink with russia.
There is a great possibility that the coalition could become a prototype of a new "military Schengen zone", where weapons, military technology and assistance are transferred faster and without bureaucracy. I also think that new participants - Japan or South Korea, which are already increasing sanctions against Russia - will join the coalition. Of these two, I bet on Japan - South Korea is too dependent on the U.S., and Tokyo wants normal and clear security conditions, not what Trump fucked up there
Yes, there is every chance that NATO may officially stay away, but the coalition format will allow the transfer of the latest weapons without political brakes.
Moral. This is a bid to change the rules of war. As it seems to me, the West will no longer just help Ukraine - it is forming an alliance that can make the defeat of Russia inevitable. I don't give a fuck what's going on in Trump's head.
