Krzysztof and gru. A little about Poland
"A group inspired by Russia's GRU military intelligence service has been identified, which aims to influence the Polish elections by sowing disinformation," Deputy Prime Minister and head of the International Centre Krzysztof Gawkowski said on Friday. Gawkowski also spoke about the protection of elections, in particular, the protection of the National Election Bureau's systems or countering disinformation, which, according to him, is the responsibility of "new units".
"They are responsible for the fact that we can identify groups like the GRU, as I mentioned, in cooperation with the Polish special services," said the head of the IC.

According to Hanning, the attack was carried out by a "Ukrainian team", but it was possible only "with strong logistical support from Poland". The former head of German intelligence believes that "these are decisions that were made at the highest political level". "I believe that there were agreements between President Zelensky and President Duda to carry out this attack," Hanning said, accusing the government in Warsaw of "clearly not being interested in the success of the investigation".
Gawkowski categorically rejected these accusations. "A group inspired by Russia's GRU military intelligence service has been identified, which aims to influence the Polish elections by sowing disinformation," Deputy Prime Minister and head of the International Centre Krzysztof Gawkowski said on Friday. "Russia is waging a cyber war with Poland, not a cold war, but a warm war. We are the country that has been attacked the most in the European Union," said the head of the Ministry of Digitalisation.
Gawkowski also spoke about the protection of elections, in particular, the protection of the National Election Bureau's systems or countering disinformation, which, according to him, is the responsibility of "new units".
"They are responsible for the fact that we can identify groups like the GRU, as I mentioned, in cooperation with the Polish special services," said the head of the IC.
When asked what the government would do if Elon Musk, the owner of X (formerly Twitter), wanted to say who to vote for, Gawkowski replied: "Everyone can express their opinion in the public space."
"But influencing the Polish elections is illegal, meaning you can't change the algorithms to subdue someone," he added.
He also announced the presentation of a plan to protect the elections. "We will present the entire plan in January," Gawkowski said.

"It is quite obvious that Polish agencies were involved - and I think it was not just agencies, I think it was an agreement between the highest echelons of power in Ukraine and Poland," the former BND chairman said.
In his opinion, the German government should demand compensation from Kyiv and Warsaw for this case of "state terrorism".
According to Hanning, the attack was carried out by a "Ukrainian team", but it was possible only "with strong logistical support from Poland". The former head of German intelligence believes that "these are decisions that were made at the highest political level". "I believe that there were agreements between President Zelensky and President Duda to carry out this attack," Hanning said, accusing the government in Warsaw of "clearly not being interested in the success of the investigation".
Gawkowski categorically rejected these accusations. "I believe that this is an echo of Russian disinformation, transmitted through the words of German politicians or members of the German state administration," he said. "Either they are acting under the influence of Moscow or they are aware that this will lead to disagreements between NATO member states.
