Crimea, "Turkish" Cyprus or what kind of peace rf wants

True, there is a problem - according to the documents the land is still yours, and the whole village knows about it.

In the meantime, the problems only grow: the water is switched off, the light is switched off, the rubbish is not taken out. It looks like you've taken it, but it's impossible to live.

Because even in Russia itself they already realise that the "new lands" are not an imperial triumph, but a huge problem that will have to be solved. Because it is one thing to own Crimea, Donbass and other occupied territories. But to live in isolation, under sanctions, with a ruined economy is quite another.
Further. Often cotton "experts" try to draw an analogy with Turkey, which in 1974 occupied Northern Cyprus. Only it's a bullshit analogy, not an analogy.
Let me explain why. In 1974 there was a military coup-revolution in Cyprus. The Greeks decided to annex the island to Greece, which Turkey used as an excuse to invade. Well, all civilised countries of the world (except Turkey) consider Northern Cyprus an occupied territory.
In fact, Ankara got a piece of territory, but it paid for it with the lost prospect of EU membership. If one day it needs this membership more than Cyprus, it will give it up without hesitation.
Unlike the Turks, Putin has gone for open annexation - first of Crimea and then an attempt to do so in four Ukrainian regions. But if Northern Cyprus can be quietly kept under control without much effort, Russia will not be able to do that with Crimea and Donbass.
The West has not just condemned the annexation, but has partially severed economic ties, imposed harsh sanctions and effectively sent the Russian economy into free fall. "Gazprom is going under, oil has to be sold to China and India at such a discount that it's easier to just dump it into the sea.
The funny thing is that even in Russia itself, there is not much enthusiasm for the "new territories". People realise that the price of all this "greatness" is poverty, international isolation and millions of dead.

- Give it back? You can't - it would be a defeat.
- Legalise it? No one will recognise it.

Putin has violated this principle twice - in 2014 and 2022. Can the world turn a blind eye to this? No. Because if we give Moscow a precedent, tomorrow China, India, Turkey - anyone - will start doing the same.
That's why there will be no "krymnash", even in 20 years. The price of owning the occupied territories will only grow. And at some point the Kremlin will simply realise that it is more expensive to hold Crimea and Donbass than to give them up.
Just like Turkey can dump Northern Cyprus if it decides that the EU is more important to it.
Epilogue or where is the peace here. The Kremlin wants to legalise the occupied territories of Ukraine, otherwise the price of "acquisitions" will rise exponentially

Crimea, "Turkish" Cyprus or what kind of peace rf wants
I will start with an allegory. Imagine that you have a neighbour who one day decided that part of your dacha is his "ancestral territory". So at night this fucker arbitrarily took, dug up the boundaries of the plot, put a new fence + his booth and declared: "Now it's mine".
True, there is a problem - according to the documents the land is still yours, and the whole village knows about it.
He can not sell "squeezed out" - there are no buyers. Legalise through the court also does not work - neighbours only laugh. Invest in repairs? Well, unless you make a gift, because, sooner or later, to give anyway will have to. In the meantime, the problems only grow: the water is switched off, the light is switched off, the rubbish is not taken out. It looks like you've taken it, but it's impossible to live.
Just like Putin has with stolen territories. Did you write Kherson and Zaporozhye into the constitution? No problem, you can also put the Moon in it - nothing will change in fact.
Because even in Russia itself they already realise that the "new lands" are not an imperial triumph, but a huge problem that will have to be solved. Because it is one thing to own Crimea, Donbass and other occupied territories. But to live in isolation, under sanctions, with a ruined economy is quite another.
Further. Often cotton "experts" try to draw an analogy with Turkey, which in 1974 occupied Northern Cyprus. Only it's a bullshit analogy, not an analogy.
Let me explain why. In 1974 there was a military coup-revolution in Cyprus. The Greeks decided to annex the island to Greece, which Turkey used as an excuse to invade. As a result, the island split: the southern part remained under the control of the Republic of Cyprus, and the puppet Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus appeared in the north.
The difference between this case and Russia's is that Turkey did not officially annex these territories. Northern Cyprus is an "independent state" (almost a small fucking Switzerland) recognised only by Turkey.
Were there any consequences for Turkey after that? Of course
Turkey was condemned by the world community, but no formal sanctions were imposed - because there was no annexation.
The Republic of Cyprus became a member of the EU and has been blocking Turkey's accession ever since.
Well, all civilised countries of the world (except Turkey) consider Northern Cyprus an occupied territory.
In fact, Ankara got a piece of territory, but it paid for it with the lost prospect of EU membership. If one day it needs this membership more than Cyprus, it will give it up without hesitation.
Unlike the Turks, Putin has gone for open annexation - first of Crimea and then an attempt to do so in four Ukrainian regions. But if Northern Cyprus can be quietly kept under control without much effort, Russia will not be able to do that with Crimea and Donbass.
The West has not just condemned the annexation, but has partially severed economic ties, imposed harsh sanctions and effectively sent the Russian economy into free fall. "Gazprom is going under, oil has to be sold to China and India at such a discount that it's easier to just dump it into the sea.
The funny thing is that even in Russia itself, there is not much enthusiasm for the "new territories". People realise that the price of all this "greatness" is poverty, international isolation and millions of dead.
As a result, the Kremlin pensioners sit with this "acquisition" and think about what to do.
- Give it back? You can't - it would be a defeat.
- Legalise it? No one will recognise it.
- Keep it? Expensive, hemmorrhoidal, endless problems.
The Kremlin is floundering between attempts to fix the status quo, negotiations and continuing the war. It hoped that the West would eventually come to terms and recognise the annexation, but this has not happened and will not happen.
Since 1945, there has been an ironclad rule: you can fight, you can even occupy territory, but you cannot change the borders in your favour.
Putin has violated this principle twice - in 2014 and 2022. Can the world turn a blind eye to this? No. Because if we give Moscow a precedent, tomorrow China, India, Turkey - anyone - will start doing the same.
That's why there will be no "krymnash", even in 20 years. The price of owning the occupied territories will only grow. And at some point the Kremlin will simply realise that it is more expensive to hold Crimea and Donbass than to give them up.
Just like Turkey can dump Northern Cyprus if it decides that the EU is more important to it.
Epilogue or where is the peace here. The Kremlin wants to legalise the occupied territories of Ukraine, otherwise the price of "acquisitions" will rise exponentially

Putin can write into the constitution of rf any city on planet earth, any region. But this will not change anything - no one will let them use what they have stolen, all adequate people know who owns the land and who has title documents for it.
